Polish War Cemetery in Loreto

LOCATION: ITALY

Loreto Cemetery is one of four burial sites of officers and soldiers of the Polish II Corps in Italy. In order to enable it to continue reminding us about patriotism and devotion of Polish troops during the struggle for freedom of the country, it was necessary to carry out maintenance and restoration works at the cemetery.

„FIRST STAGE:

The scope of works included:

 

– repair of the cracks in the cemetery walls, execution of drip edges on the covers of the cemetery walls,

– repair of crosses and tombstones damaged after the winter period,

– partial replacement of the graves borders,

– arrangement of the cemetery area after the winter period,

– replacement of stone markings of the graves,

– covering the roof of the chapel,

– renovation of the chapel plasters,

– repair of the brick posts at the main entrance,

– repair of the central element with the mast,

– execution of an information board at the entrance from the chapel side,

– repair with partial replacement of the covers on the wall at the main entrance,

– inspection and repair of the water system in the cemetery,

– repair of drainage along the cemetery walls,

– execution of drainage of the terrace retaining walls.

SECOND STAGE:

The scope of works included:

 

– repair of the fence along the main entrance of the cemetery (metal and stone elements),

– maintenance of sculptural elements of the chapel and the front door, along with horizontal insulation,

– repair of external walls of the cemetery,

– renovation and maintenance of the stairs near the terrace walls,

– cleaning and maintenance of the graves borders.”

We have renovated the carved elements of the chapel and the entrance door, along with horizontal insulation.
