The building of the former Agricultural Syndicate
Hrubieszów – POLAND
The building of the former Agricultural Syndicate was constructed in 1920 in Hrubieszow, and over the years it has served many functions.
After renovation, this one-story monument has gained new life and purpose – it houses the City Library with a conference and training space, and a tourist information point. In addition, the building will remain as the current headquarters of the Krystyna and Stefan Du Chateau Foundation for Polish-French Culture and Friendship in Hrubieszow.
The interiors required a number of renovation works to adapt the space to its new function. We have demolished some of the existing partition walls and made a number of new ones. Some of the wooden ceilings showed too much deflection, so we’ve replaced them. Throughout the building we’ve repleaced the floors, window sills, and door frames. We’ve thoroughly renovated and rebuilt the existing stairways, and made a new staircase with an internal elevator.
The external and internal installations required thorough work from us.
We’ve removed the old boiler room in order to change it into an exchanger room.
Exterior of the building also required a number of repair and maintenance work. We’ve dismantled all billboards, antennas, and elements that interferred with the historic character of the building. In order to bring back the charm of the historic facade, we’ve conducted several renovation works to restore its characteristic details, as well as insulating the buildings foundations. We’ve repaired the masonry, eliminated the old chimney on the north side, and carried out work on the flushing, gutters and downpipes, which we’ve incorporated into the rainwater drainage system.
The roof required partial replacement of the rafter framing, and we attempted to preserve as many original elements as possible. We’ve also replaced all of the roofing.
The area around the building underwent several works in accordance with the landscaping project. We’ve repaired the surface of the access road, the internal parking lot and the plot’s fence. In the courtyard we’ve also managed to set aside an area for a children’s playground and a place for outdoor events.
Hrubieszow can now be proud of a newly restored monument.
